The New Age 03:16
A New Age is dawning, Our eyes are open wide. Our bodies are yawning, As they lie useless at our sides. The Seventh Sun is rising, Curing death, doubt, and disease. But their machine is always surprising, How it moves, how it breathes. If what I see is not the Real Thing, Then what is this thing I see? If I keep dreaming and singing, Would it even matter to me?

I'm getting older by the instant. I'm getting older, I can''t keep my eyes open any longer. The sun's already coming up, And I am slowly going down. The ground will open up for me, Prepare her violent breath for me. And on the Winds of Change, I hear those things that have always been the same, They call my name. The Winds of Change, They call my name. The whole world's slowly dying. The whole world is drying up, but no one wants to face the truth. So they greet each sunrise With a look of feigned surprise, But you can see it in their eyes: They know tomorrow morning means their demise, So they try to hide their fear behind their lies. They try and try and try, As lifetimes pass them by. They waste their last night, Waiting for the light.

The river wound its way Down from the mountains, Where the sky melts the snow. Here the cool breeze Distracts from the thoughts of disease That festers in the valley far below. But the river knows. The river wound its way Through the city, Past those poor, starving, silent, desperate. The blood-toothed scope of those That have gone their way Far too soon. Here the sun streams in spears, Tears their dying flesh From their still living bone. Buries gravestones under the wave Of "necessary change." The river wound its way Through the jungles, Where rotting fruit hung from dying trees. Here the sunrise grieves its rebirth each morn, Sounds the cock-call with apparent malaise. The river wound its way Through the gardens, Past those million-dollar homes on the hill, Where the rich women sleep, Dangle their feet in the current. They're turned on by the passage of time. They dream of being carried away With the flood.

Dead Fish!

As I float through the darkness On sounds, unencumbered By the sighted world that hovers below, I See it All; i can see nothing at all. Now I sit still and silent, On the very edge of motion, Not sleeping, not thinking, just echoing. I Hear it All, when i say nothing at all. And if you really know me, Then you won''t forget me When the light stops shining on my face. And when the earth and the sun They finally do collide, You''ll feel that gentle pull on your fate, And you''ll finally take your place. My instincts have been reacting To the world quite slowly, And I fear I''ve been losing my ground. But I Know it All, in that i know nothing at all. So now I wait for a letter That''s coming to me, She sends me pictures of the ocean in an envelope. I Hold it All; i hold onto nothing at all. I Am All; i am nothing at all. The moon stands proud of its golden ego, Traces rings ''round itself in the sky. I lie face up in the dust, and I don''t wonder why. I just close my eyes, sing the song of rain.

about

Recorded summer into fall of '07 @ The Boathouse in Stone Lake, WI. It is part 1 of a trilogy about the sun, death, war, love, and time. A lot of the inspiration and imagery came from the film Zeitgeist. Particularly the first half, about the sun's central role in all major religious traditions and symbolism.
